WHY I GOT INTO MASSAGE
I
got into massage therapy because of a accident that I had been in. I
had been going to a chiropractor for my accident 3-4 times a week and
gradually got down to going in a couple times a month. Well after a year
and a half of going to the chiropractor all the muscles in my neck,
shoulders and upper back tightened up to the point that I had almost no
range of motion and was in so much pain. I ended up missing almost an
entire month of work in a 3 month span. I was back up to going to the
chiropractor 3-4 times a week again. Well I wasn't able to move my neck
hardly at all so when I went in for my adjustments it was so pain full,
that I would have tears running down my face and actually screamed out
in pain, but I kept going back because I didn't know what else to do. I
went though this for 3 months. I went to Dr.'s and they would give me
shots for the pain which did nothing, I wanted them to give me pain
pills but they wouldn't, they gave me pills for arthritis. I didn't know
what to do, I had always been very active and into sports and working
out and very independent and I felt like a cripple, I couldn't hardly do
anything. Finally a friend suggested that I should try getting a
massage. I was like OK, I'll try it, I didn't know what it was but I was
desperate at this point to feel better. So I went into my first
appointment and the lady worked on my neck, shoulders and upper back.
After the appointment was done my range of motion had increased so much
and the pain I was in had gone down dramatically that I was in complete
shock. It was after that first appointment that I decided that I wanted
to do massage. I went to see her every week for 6 weeks before I was
pain free and had most of my range of motion back. I then started school
6 months later. I love giving massage, and having my clients feel
better. If you are in pain, whether it is from a car accident or just
stress related, I know how you feel because I have been there myself.
